Privacy Policy

What this site collects, what it does not, and what happens to anything you type in.

Last updated

In short: there are no accounts and we set no cookies of our own. Advertising is not running yet; when it is, our advertising partners will set cookies, and the Advertising section below already sets out exactly what that involves. The other thing worth understanding is that the priority date you enter appears in the page URL — explained below.

What we collect

We do not ask you for personal information, and there is nothing to sign up for.

  • No accounts. There is no registration, login, or profile.
  • No cookies from us. This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
  • No analytics or advertising yet. No tracking scripts, tag managers, pixels, or ad code run on this site at the moment. Advertising is planned, and the Advertising section below describes what it will involve.
  • No uploads. We never ask for documents, case numbers, receipt numbers, or identification.

The priority date you enter

The priority date checker puts your selections and your date into the page address, like /priority-date?category=EB2&area=INDIA&pd=2013-01-01. That is deliberate: it makes a result shareable and bookmarkable.

It also has consequences you should know about:

  • The address is saved in your own browser history, like any page you visit.
  • It appears in the access logs kept by our hosting provider, alongside your IP address, in the ordinary course of serving the page.
  • Anyone you send the link to can see the date in it.

We do not store your date in a database, attach it to you, or use it for anything beyond producing the answer on screen. Your date is compared against the published cut-off and the result is rendered; nothing is retained afterwards.

We also set a referrer policy that stops the full address — and therefore your date — being passed to any external site you click through to, and outbound links carry no referrer. If you would rather it not appear anywhere at all, clear the query string from the address bar after reading the result.

Server logs

Like any website, requests reach a hosting provider that records standard technical information — IP address, time, the page requested, browser user agent — to serve traffic, diagnose faults, and prevent abuse. We do not use these logs to build profiles of visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else.

Third parties

The site is served by a hosting provider and is delivered over a content network, both of which necessarily process the technical information described above.

Pages link out to official government sources such as travel.state.gov. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we have no control over them. We do not embed third-party content, fonts loaded from elsewhere, social widgets, comment systems, or video players.

Advertising

This site is not yet showing advertising. When it does, it will be served through Google AdSense, and everything in this section will apply from that moment. It is set out here in advance so you know what to expect.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may use cookies or similar technologies to do so.
  • We do not give advertisers your name, email address, or anything you type into the priority-date checker. We do not have that information ourselves.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices. Google’s own explanation of how it uses data from sites that show its ads is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.

Children

This site is a reference tool aimed at adults dealing with immigration paperwork. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no accounts and no database of visitors, there is generally nothing personal for us to retrieve, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, write to us and we will look and tell you what we find.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes — in particular, introducing analytics or advertising — will be described here before they take effect, not afterwards.
